Update. Novel Coronavirus---2020-02-05:

 Bad News:
  • As of February 5th. 2020 at 6:54 p.m. ET there has been  28,276 cases officially reported with 565 fatalities.
  • The virus has killed two people outside of mainland China, one in Hong Kong and another in the Philippines. At least 25 countries have confirmed cases.
  • The United States has confirmed its twelfth case of coronavirus, the first in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Hong Kong to further tighten mainland China border
Hong Kong will close two cruise terminals and will put anyone coming from mainland China into compulsory quarantine for 14 days, its leader Carrie Lam said. Lam said the measures were aimed at curbing the cross-border flow of people to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus, which originated on mainland China.
Good News:
The percentage change in new cases was 15% yesterday which is down from a high of 95% rate and 19% the day before.
  • Indonesia & Bali are still free from this deadly virus as of this date according to the Indonesian Authorities.
  • WHO convening experts on drugs, vaccines to set the research agenda. Experts will meet in Geneva from February 11-12 to set research and development priorities for coronavirus drugs, diagnostics and vaccines to combat the outbreak.
  • The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to commit up to $100m for the global response to the coronavirus.
  • 'Significant breakthrough' in the race for a vaccine made by UK scientists.
  • A vaccine may be close to being tested on animals and then humans, depending on the level of funding researchers get. The scientist leading the UK's research into a coronavirus vaccine says his team have made a significant breakthrough by reducing a part of the normal development time from "two to three years to just 14 days
Update. Novel Coronavirus---2020-02-01:
Two weeks ago I warned that the Coronavirus was going be out of control. Unfortunately, I was right.

I've been watching the information and statistics closely night and day almost every 30 minutes even waking up at 3 AM in the morning for an hour to update myself.

Like many fathers' my first and foremost concern is for my family consisting of a lovely wife Azizah and my two young boys.
Secondly is the safety of my staff, friends, clients, and associates.
I warned, "everyone has taken this whole disease too lightly".

As I updated people I met recently about the dramatic news of 40% to 60 % increases each day they looked at me like I was a crazy doomsayer. Most didn't listen. Now maybe they will!

Now people will not believe me when I tell them that there's a good chance that this virus has already begun to decline and new cases may stop by March.
"There's a good chance that this virus has already begun to decline and new cases stop by March". Lawrence Bellefontaine 2020-02-01

Here is what we now know are the facts.

The Bad News:
  • The disease has been spreading rapidly since January 16th. when the first 45 known cases were reported.
  • In the last 16 days, it has grown to 11,948 confirmed cases worldwide, including 259 fatalities.
  • The average rate of increase per day according to my personal statistics that I keep, which are not guaranteed, is that new cases increased at an average of 42% per day up until yesterday.
The death toll went up from 213 on Thursday to 259 yesterday.
  • We know that the disease has already spread to 102 countries.

Other countries infected as of today

    United States7
    South Korea12
    Sri Lanka1

The Good News:
  • Indonesia & Bali are free from this deadly virus as of this date on January 31st according to Indonesian Authorities. There was one suspect in Batam close to Singapore  1,000 KM from Bali yesterday.

  • We know that a majority of the deceased patients were elderly and many had pre-existing conditions such as asthma and lung disease etc. So young people and people who are in good health should be pretty safe with this virus.
  • The best news is that the amount of patients being affected each day is dropping percentage-wise from a high of 95% per day on January 18th. to only 22% in the last 24 hours.
  • Based on this trend it appears that they may be getting it under control.
  • Each day, although there will be more new cases for some time perhaps up March 7th.
  • What's really promising is that the amount of percentage increase in new cases, is dropping consistently.
Yesterday I said "based on the current statistics it appears that they may have it under control".

Many scorned me and made negative comments on that statement.

One thing I've learned over my 50 years of making predictions on my Radio & TV programs in my Newspaper Articles, National and International seminars, Newsletters, Blogs, Tweets, & Facebook posts is that "if everybody's laughing at me I am probably right".

"If everybody's laughing at me I am probably right".

The public is always wrong! Because they don't do the intense research required to make a prudent educated prediction.

This morning after I returned from my morning walk on the beach I felt vindicated because my spreadsheet shows that yesterday although there was an increase in deaths and cases the increases in new cases have slowed significantly.

It hit a high of  115% increase on January 18 th. then began to slow down.

The really exciting news is that yesterday it dropped to a 16% increase.

These numbers are based on numbers provided by the World Health Organization and other organizations that have no vested interest in providing false information.

Of course, a lot of it is based on what statistics they're receiving from China which may be construed to look better than it is.

"Based on this trend it appears that they may have it under control"

In my mind even if the numbers are as much as 500% more the most important thing to note is that the amount of daily increases in cases is dropping dramatically. The percentage increase in deaths should also decrease dramatically.

Yesterday the number of new cases reported increased from 9,800 the day before to 11,900 or roughly 2,100 new cases.

What's important is that is a 16% decrease in the number of new cases reported from the day before when there was 22% in new cases.

New Cases May End in March:
Now, are you ready for some really good news?

If the number of new cases reported only stays at the same percentage increase per day as it is right now the number of new cases reported in early March will be down to two or three.

That's right that's not a typo, two or three new cases. This means the spread of the virus could be over by March.

Countries around the world are taking drastic actions to prevent this disease from spreading such as quarantining everybody returning from China and stopping all flights to China.

There's a good chance that it may even slow down faster than I'm predicting and we could be seeing no new cases reported as early as mid-February.

Unfortunately, this still means that by the time it is over there will be 50,000 to 60,000 cases diagnosed worldwide and 1% to 3% on them will sadly pass.

Primarily again those will be those with weakened immune systems which are primarily older people who already have diseases. "At this point, there's reason to have hope."

Of course, there are a lot of variables involved in this deadly disease.
Many things can change overnight.
At this point, there's reason to have hope.
If you're already in Bali what should you do?

This memo went out to all our Tripadvisor Hall of Fame award-winning Villa Guest's Yesterday.

PT. Bali Luxury Villas

“Designed for the modern-day traveler who wants to stay in touch.”

Memo to Villa Owner and Guests - - Subject: Corona Virus Protection

Dear Bali Luxury Villa guests. Our president director Mr. Bellefontaine is on top of information almost hourly regarding the Coronavirus.

We are happy to report that unlike most of Asia, Australia, Europe, and even Canada and the Americas there have been no reported cases in Bali as of this morning.

There is thermal scanning at the airport, but this is not 100% safe as they have just revealed that coronavirus may be incubated in the patient up to 14 days before signs such as fever appear.

To be super safe we recommend the following.

1. Do not enjoy a massage as a masseuse may have given a massage to an infected person in the last week or so.

2. Try to avoid close contact in public places including avoiding any buffet lines where previous restaurant guests or staff may have unintentionally contaminated the buffet food.

3.  In theatres, we recommend that you wear a surgical mask although be aware that this disease can spread through your eyes as well. Surgical masks are available for purchase at reception.

4. The masks you should purchase if you feel that you need them, are the inexpensive surgical masks which have blue color on the outside and a malleable bendable piece of metal around the nose.

6. Try to cook at home as much as possible to avoid the chance of receiving the virus from a 3rd. party. Soak all fruits and vegetables in vinegar and water to kill all bacteria.

7. Bali Luxury Villas, in general, does not have any mainland Chinese guests currently so there's very little chance of catching the virus within our villa complexes.

8. If the Virus becomes completely out of control the best thing to do would be to buy some frozen food and vegetables and stay in your villa enjoying your swimming pool, Wi-Fi and television.

9. If you do come down with any symptoms at all similar to flu contact our reception immediately and they will arrange for you to go to a local clinic be diagnosed whether you have the Coronavirus.

10. If have plans to go to China, Hong Kong, or even Japan soon we highly recommend you change your plans and stay longer with us until the virus is under control. Contact our reception and we will provide you a substantial discount for continuing your stay with us, subject to availability.

If you have any questions please feel free to direct them to the reception.

Pray that the authorities achieve control of this virus and eventually that it is under control and eliminated as was the similar Sar’s virus in 2012.

As always better to be safe than sorry.

Wishing you all a pleasant, comfortable, fearless, safe stay.
